Jake Lonergan - Character Study Maya, Mudbox, Photoshop, VRay March 2012
This was done for a class project at my university. I wished to try my hand at making a highly detailed human head that was also distinctly recognizable, and I decided on Daniel Craig's character from Cowboys & Aliens. Needless to say, I found this to be a difficult project, especially when it came to achieving the likeness of the character.
This is one of the first human portraits that I have completed to this level of detail. It's not perfect but I am quite happy with what I was able to achieve.
Texturing was done in Mudbox with a PTEX workflow. Skin is a Vray Fast SSS shader with bump, displacement, and specular mapping. Stubble was done with Vray fur.
